There may not be a sport as all-inclusive as running. Its action is simple, just put one foot in front of the other. Nearly everyone can do it. Yet it can also be complex – muscles, tendons, and bones work with cardiovascular systems delivering oxygen to the body. Diet and nutrition fuel the body’s need for energy. Let’s not forget the mind, which can sometimes beg you to stop at the onset of pain or perhaps even talk you into staying at home when you had planned to run.
In recent years, running has emerged as a sport for the masses. Each year, more and more people compete in 5k races, 10k’s, half-marathons, and marathons. The marathon is no longer seen as an insurmountable goal for the select few who have been graced with pro-endurance genetics. Many are learning that with proper training and commitment, the marathon is conquerable.
Triathlons and ultramarathons are garnering more and more interest as competitors push their limits to the frontiers of what was considered humanly possible.
Yet anyone can walk outside today, put on a pair of sneakers, and be a runner. The basic competition in the sport isn’t always who wins the race, but resides within the individual – setting personal goals and working towards reaching them. For that reason, the running community is largely supportive and helpful.
You will find many blogs, podcasts, online discussion groups and social media networks dedicated to the sport of running. In a world all too often the opposite, these places reflect a positive attitude, ardent support and proficient advice.
Milecast Media’s goal is to become a hub to channel all the good vibes that exist within the running community. Forming a collection of the best podcasts, blogs, websites, and professionals so that runners can access the best resources to improve themselves – whether they be searching for intricate knowledge of the sport or perhaps that ounce of motivation to lace up their sneakers and take the first step.
A runner’s journey is their own. We hope to make it more meaningful.
